Yankees' Dominguez carted off after crashing into left-field wall

New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez was carted off the field in tears after colliding with the left-field wall on a catch during the first inning against the Texas Rangers at Yankee Stadium on May 7, 2026. The 23-year-old held onto the ball despite the impact, which knocked off his hat and sunglasses, before lying face down on the warning track. Teammate Trent Grisham placed a hand on him until medical staff arrived.

Dominguez received attention on the field for several minutes before being helped onto a cart, where he appeared emotional. The YES Network broadcast reported he entered concussion protocol and underwent an MRI on his left shoulder.

Last season marked Dominguez's first full year in the majors, where the switch-hitter from the Dominican Republic batted .257 with 10 home runs, 47 RBI and 23 stolen bases. He hit .274 from the left side but .204 from the right.

Struggles with left-field defense and against left-handed pitching led the Yankees to option him to Triple-A to open 2026. He had played in his ninth game this season after a call-up due to Giancarlo Stanton's calf injury.
