Giants lose defensive tackle Robertson-Harris for season with torn Achilles
The New York Giants will be without defensive tackle Roy Robertson-Harris for the entire season after he tore his right Achilles tendon during an organized team activity practice.
Robertson-Harris, 32, sustained the injury while rushing the passer in an 11-on-11 period and immediately grabbed at his leg. The Giants had signed him to a two-year contract before last season after trading Dexter Lawrence to the Cincinnati Bengals in the offseason.
He started all 17 games in the previous campaign, recording 35 tackles and three tackles for loss. The Giants have since added veteran tackles D.J. Reader and Shelby Harris through free agency and will also rely on third-year player Darius Alexander and sixth-round draft pick Bobby Jamison-Travis to fill the gap.
The loss further thins an already depleted defensive line as the club prepares for the upcoming season.
