NBA hits Orlando Magic with hefty fine after team failed to accurately disclose player's availability
NBA fines Magic $25,000 for Black injury report violation
The NBA fined the Orlando Magic $25,000 on Thursday for violating league injury reporting policies. The penalty stemmed from the team's failure to accurately disclose guard Anthony Black's availability before Monday's game against the Detroit Pistons. Black, listed as out, entered the contest and scored 14 points with two steals.
Black had missed 15 previous games while recovering from an abdominal strain. Orlando defeated Detroit 123-107 at Kia Center in Orlando, marking the Magic's third consecutive victory. The team extended the streak to four wins by outlasting the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.
Black, a 22-year-old third-year guard from Arkansas, averages 15.1 points and 3.8 assists in 62 games this season, including 40 starts.
Orlando holds seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings and visits the Chicago Bulls on Friday. The Pistons, who have clinched the East's best overall record, host the Charlotte Hornets that night.
