Indiana Pacers' Tyrese Haliburton tells March Madness fans: 'Make one bracket and stand on it'

Indiana Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton, a former Iowa State Cyclones guard, posted on X encouraging college basketball fans to submit a single bracket for the NCAA Division I men's tournament. "Make one bracket and stand on it," he wrote.[1]

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Haliburton explained his view while promoting his partnership with Reese's March Madness Bracket Busting Campaign. "I think it’s just so lame that people are like, ‘Oh, I made this many brackets.’ Like, dang, how many brackets do you get?" he said. "That’s not how it works."[1]

Haliburton, who played one season for Iowa State in 2019-20, averaging 15.2 points and 5.9 assists per game, acknowledged some arguments for multiple brackets, such as one optimistic pick for an alma mater and one realistic prediction. He selected Iowa State to win the national championship on his bracket.[1][2]

Iowa State earned a No. 2 seed in the East Region of the 2024 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament after a 27-10 overall record and 16-4 mark in Big 12 Conference play.[3][4]

The Cyclones faced No. 15 seed South Dakota State in the first round on March 21, 2024, at CHI Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Haliburton described his former team as battle-tested from Big 12 play.[1][3]

Reese's campaign invites fans to share busted brackets on social media by following @Reeses and using #ForAReesesSweeps on Instagram, X or TikTok for chances to win free products and tickets to the men's or women's Final Four and championship games.[1]

"Everybody’s bracket is going to bust. So, if it’s going to bust, might as well win something out of it," Haliburton said. He also took part in a Bracket Summit with New York Liberty's Breanna Stewart, analysts Richard Jefferson and Andraya Carter.[1]
